Western Wednesday Aztec fur duster

There’s an old saying that “good things are rarely cheap, and cheap things are rarely good” I beg to differ since I get quality things for cheap all the time, however in the real retail world, it is usually true. When you shop often, you learn to look at clothing ads that are shipping from overseas with a cautious eye. Sometimes, they come in great, other times they would fit a 4th grader and are useless after the first wash. Having an affection for western pieces I really liked a fur-trimmed duster ad that kept coming up on my feed…

Of course, I didn’t like the $90 price tag. The minute I saw where it would be shipping from, I decided to pass on the fashion dice. I knew I would probably not look like the photo and I would find it thrifting or on eBay at some point since it was everywhere online.

Some things you just know, I found it (or it’s VERY distant hillbilly cousin) at Goodwill for $10. I was soo glad I didn’t pay full price for it since it basically looks nothing like the photos. Flimsy, bright orange and baby blue, what I would expect to get for $10 not $90. My daughter laughed and shook her head when I put it into the cart, but I am used to such mockery lol. I had in mind how I would style it. Adding Mia limited edition fringe boots certainly gave it a much needed boost.

I looked online, and was right that this was indeed the duster in the ad. Even though it was wildly different than ideas of it, I still thought it was kinda cute in ugly kind of way lol. It actually photographed better than I thought it would. Turning it black and white gives it a completly different look. Hubs really likes it, so it’ll stay for a while. I would have been heated had I spent the retail price, but learned a long time ago that spending way less for what I want never leaves me disappointed.

Blessings,

Eden
