Outfit aper! A new CFIH feature

Like most women that are into fashion, I am always looking for new ways to style my finds. I peruse social media and a whole lotta Pinterest for outfit inspiration and style hacks. I have a whole board of tons of things I want to recreate. It’s time to start actually doing that. I decided to create a new feature, I am calling it the outfit aper. To ape is to mimic what you see so I thought it had a nice little ring to it.

For the first post, I picked a good one that I fell in love with the minute I saw it. It’s been on my board for a LONG time. The original photo belongs to and is of the ever beautiful Victoria Fox. I am obsessed with her amazing style. For whatever reason, she is no longer posting on Instagram (come back Victoria, we miss you) but she has 100’s of the most brilliant outfits. I have yet to find one I don’t adore. Now granted, her outfits are waaay out of my price range, but I will probably do several apes of hers with as close as I can get it. For my own spin on it, I changed up the boots, since I like them better with the purse, a smaller necklace, belt, sunglasses and I didn’t use the gloves.

I found the exact replica of the mint green sweater dress from Shein by chance. It popped up while I was ordering something else. It was only $13 so it was meant to be lol. I am shocked how close it is to the real one. I already had the camel color coat, a vintage piece I bought years ago and still love it as much today. The Simmi boots are a recent purchase, you can never go wrong with a faux croc boot to jazz an outfit up. The russet suede boots have the ruched style which is similar to what she is wearing.

The rust beret was 1 of several my hubs bought me for Christmas. It came in a set of 12, in lots of different shades. I think it was around $30 which makes them around $2.50 each. I love berets and wear them often so this was a great deal. If you don’t need 12 lol, You can buy a single beret online for aprox $6-10. Both pairs of sunglasses were on clearance at Walmart for $5 each.

The bag was a Goodwill purchase for $15. Such a beauty but I didn’t realize until I got home that the inside reeked of cigarette smoke. YUCK! I cleaned it with white vinegar and sprinkled baking soda in it. It is much better but it needs a 2nd round. It’s worth the extra work for how pretty it is. Her bag is a YSL, I have yet to find one of those while thrifing lol, but when I do, you can bet it will be in my cart in an instant.

Nothing I can do about the age difference lol, but for a first try, I think it’s a pretty great ape!

Blessings,

Eden
