80’s throwback romper

The last time I wore a romper similar to this one, I had a ginormous 80’s spiral perm and I was jamming out to my rad Def Leppard cassette playing in the car. Ahhhh, the good old days as us oldies like to say lol.

When I saw this romper while thrifting, it instantly made me smile. There is something about holding a piece of fashion so popular in your youth that just brings on the feel-goods.

This was the “it” look in the late 80’s early 90’s. Looking back, big hair and shoulder pads swallowed me up but no matter, it was the fun style. Basic black and white never goes out of style. I could have taken the linebacker-ish shoulder pads out of it to help modernize it, but it’s part of it’s fashion history and I honestly like the boxiness since I remember them all too well.

I forgot what a mess they are to iron though, they wrinkle so easily. For its age, the outfit is in great shape. I paired it with an 80’s hat and oversized belt and chose black and white graphic print heels by BCBG.

Putting it on was like a time machine. All of these vintage pieces are now sought after by the youngers. They want a piece of that fun fashion magic that was the 80’s lol. I am torn if I will sell it, it certainly captures a much simpler and happy time but I wouldn’t wear it often and I would want it to be enjoyed as it should be.

I always feel blessed to have grown up during that time, BIG hair and all, it was just the best.

Blessings,

Eden
