The no-nos

I am embracing Halloween all month by wearing the daring. The flashy, the unusual, the what-the-hecks of the vault. What better way to start than with a cape? A generally accepted October fashion.

This outfit could be considered a fall no-no by the old fashion rules. Shorts and white in October? Throw in wearing heels and shorts together over 50 and you’ve got a basket of fashion police tickets. Tsk tsk, as if such things mattered to me.

A cold shoulder turtleneck, the faux snakeskin leather shorts, and the cape are actually all winter-white, which is in between white and ivory, so that should get me off the charges on a technicality lol, but regardless not a super popular hue as the leaves change. Southern staters relate to shorts in fall. It was 91 degrees when I took this pix. It’s honestly still a little too warm for it. It would be a great spring outfit if it were warm enough where you are.

There are different ways to layer the outfit depending on how glam you want to go. If I were to put it with a long cardigan and flat shoes, or swap the shorts for leggings or jeans, it would be more “age-appropriate” lol. Adding the fedora, sunglasses and velvet booties just shake the outfit up a bit by making it more fun, aka OTT.

This is a head-turner outfit. In fairness that may include some “I would never wear that” heads, lol but that’s okay. That’s what makes fashion so fun. Wearing the daring isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, just like me.

Have an amazing day!
