Thanksgiving eve + $8 vintage suit

Happy Thanksgiving eve y’all! I hope whatever your plans are, they are filled with faith, family, friends, great food, and many things to be thankful for. I am so VERY thankful for you and for taking the time to follow my posts. We are having a small one this year, so not quite as much cooking as normal, which honestly feels odd. Texas allergies are in full swing so bring on the stretchy pants, Benadryl, and Netflix just relaxing on the couch after a good meal!

Today’s outfit is a blast from the past! When these little velvet-collared suits were popular, cordless phones were the size of a Chihuahua, you had to wait to hear your favorite song on the radio, and you grabbed the newest VHS from Blockbuster video on date night LOL good times!

One of my go-to thrift stores is in a very small neighboring town that has a lot of elderly residents. I have found such great vintage pieces there and the prices are ridiculously low as you can see on the handwritten price sheet…

Many thrifters passed her up since she’s outdated, they didn’t know that these suits are actually hard to find since vintage resellers are snapping them up. I can rework just about any outfit so I am never deterred by “outdated” things, I look at them as opportunities to create a one-of-a-kind outfit. Just $8 for a cutie pie rare suit and a walk down memory lane? Wrap her up! It fits great, with the tailored look I love. The cute velvet collar, notched edging, and small shoulder pads! The purple is vibrant and appears hardly worn. Oh, the stories she could tell lol. It’s adorable as it is, but with the cold weather snap we are having, it’s a perfect time to pop on some fur accessories and Cole Hann fur boots to give this old dainty suit a new glam & sassy identity.

You can buy fur cuffs and scarves very reasonably on eBay or Amazon, they bring the drama that I love. It’s a great way to make an outfit look different without alterations. I am all about maximum drama for as little $$ as possible.

Vintage suits are harder to come by and are being resold for a lot. Similar ones to this are running $75-$250 online. So my $8 little cutie has turned into a good investment. Vintage clothing is all the rage right now. So if you want to wear the vintage style without spending any $$, see what might be way in the back of your mom or grandma’s closet, if they are like me and keep their favorite clothes for decades, you might get lucky and borrow your own new old suit.

Hope you have the happiest Thanksgiving,

Eden
