Prep trend
I apologize in advance for the ridiculous amount of plaid you will see this month. It’s my basic holiday uniform print. It always makes me happy to haul them out.
Speaking of uniform, school girl prep is in style, hmmpf. Who comes up with this stuff?? This would be a trend many of a certain age would just pass on. Since it is styled with my beloved plaid print, I wanted to show you that you can participate in trends at any age.
Usually, prep girl style is a pleated plaid mini skirt, tie, and blazer. I am down for all of that except the mini. I am just not a huge fan of wearing them. This thrifted vintage skirt fit better suits my taste and so does the $7 price. A navy and red scarf for $3.50 was also a great find since I wear these colors so often. This entire ouftit (minus the boots and beret) was thrifted, some pieces a long time ago. All in, it’s under $27.
Long pleated skirts can give off more of a schoolmarm look, which is more my age, but not my style lol. It’s all about upstyling with these types of skirts, as always, the accessories are what draw the attention and give it a more updated look.
A vintage v-neck sweater vest, a navy trimmed white button-down, and a navy beret. The outfit is prep, but using accessories I opted for more of a french flair to ward off any oldie vibes this skirt can bring, red boots and a scarf seal the deal. Stilleto boots have zero to do with the prep trend, but it is my style all day long.
You should always add a piece of you to any style, it’s what makes the outfit uniquely yours. That is your style stamp!
Blessings,
Eden
