15 Christmas party outfit ideas

It’s that time of year y’all! Holiday parties rack up the calendar. Do you have one outfit you always wear? Consider putting away that little black dress or holiday sweater and take the opportunity to have a little fun with fashion this year. I put together 14 outfits from this year and last to give a little inspiration for your next shindig. As you know am a huge fan of plaid so most of my outfits will include some part of it, but they can easily be exchanged for a solid color piece if you prefer.

If you have a formal party, these are my favorite go-to outfits to wear. The vintage emerald green taffeta dress is hands down my favorite dress for formal parties. It will be the only dress in this post. Vintage pieces are great since you never have to worry about someone else wearing your same outfit. A close 2nd would be a black tux with a vintage plaid vest and bow tie. It’s a great alternative to a dress when the weather is cold. A green Calvin Klein wide leg jumpsuit pairs nicely with a fur trimmed plaid shawl. This type of outfit can be dressed up or down depending on how you accessorize it. A double breasted velvet suit always brings a lot of compliments when I wear it, you can never go wrong with velvet for the holidays.

For work to party ideas, A mid length belted blazer, paired with satin pants is easy to dress up with a bow tie and fun shoes. A fur trimmed blazer with a plaid skirt is always a winner. I got so many compliments on this outfit. My recent post of a pleated long skirt with a sweater vest and beret makes an easy transition from work to going out. While navy is not always a first choice for holiday wear, a plaid suit set can be just as festive.

For semi to casual, a turtleneck, blazer, and beret, or fedora, are always a stylish combo. Leather pants/leggings are a great alternative to jeans or black slacks, they are warm and stylish. A white button-down shirt easily dresses up a $5 Walmart Christmas tee, the same outfit with the jacket buttoned, and adding a cheetah scarf just gives the outfit a fun punch. Last but not least, are capes with boots, since you don’t see capes very often, they give the right amount of style to make any outfit more memorable.

The last option would be to belt a thin coat and wear it like a dress. I believe this is still available online, I bought mine on eBay in 2 different colors. It’s a lightweight flannel, so it’s not too warm to wear as a dress. Pairing it with vibrant red pulls that color out of the plaid. You can never go wrong with a full skirt and boots.

Whew! That’s a lot of outfits in one post. Fashion can be fun and creative with a little out of the box thinking.
