DIY Outdoor chairs??

I am an out of the box type of thinker when it comes to DIY projects. If I get an idea, I don’t always follow conventional wisdom in it’s design. At any given time, my garage/craft room is home to 10+ future projects. I’ll see something that I imagaine a totally different use for and it could sit for a LONG time before I actually create it. Thats the story behind these chairs.

Most people, when looking for outdoor furniture tend to look for exactly that. I saw these dining chairs at GW for $10 each. They were ornate, with curved lines which I like. Since they were iron, I knew with the right protectant they would be fine in the covered balcony off the guest suite.

They were heavy but ugly, which is why they were so cheap. At the time I hadn’t decided what color scheme I was going to do the attached bedroom. I took them up to a corner in the balcony, and there they sat in their ugliness for a LONG time. I honestly kinda forgot about them. I always chide myself when I wait too long to overhaul a piece. Redoing chairs is a fast and easy project and they look so great now, like my many other projects, I should have done this way sooner.

These chairs would be off the “gothel” bedroom, so I wanted them to be a little more unusual and daring. I knew exactly what I wanted. I ordered outdoor fabric online for $11 a yard. I already had the paint leftover from my laundry room. Easy peasy.

Now, they do look like Alice in wonderland married a circus barker but I get sooo many compliments on these chairs, they are different and not something one would normally see outside. That’s how I roll lol.

I will be decorating this area soon so check back in…

Make today great,

Eden
