54!

red gown (1).JPG

Today, I turned 54. When deciding what I wanted to haul out of the vault to mark a red-letter day for the photo journal, I decided I would have a little fun and really glam it up. Of course my glam comes with a discount lol. I found this gorgeous gown on clearance (of course) at Ross for $15. I couldn’t resist. My favorite color to boot! Red letter indeed!

A whole lotta glam for $15. Hubs bought me the beautiful necklace set a while back so I was excited to finally get to wear it.

How fun! I think wearing a beautiful gown will be a new birthday tradition. It’s nice to get really glammed up once in a while. It’s one of the best parts of being a girl.

What’s an outfit without the right shoes??? I absolutely adore these diamond red beauties. I always say I like to mix converse styles together so of course, high-top Converse fit the bill here. I think it sums up my overall attitude, a little bit of class with a whole lotta sass.

It wouldn’t be me without stepping on my dress… the struggles of the vertically challenged lol. Next stop for this gown is alterations..

On a serious note, as I step into a new year, I am reflecting that I am blessed to be happy, healthy, in crazy love with my hubs, and have the best family a girl could ever ask for. Life is good for this country girl. I certainly do not say that to brag but to just express a heart of deep gratitude for where I am in this life as I turn another year older. Tomorrow is never promised to any of us, we are all just one phone call or decision away from our lives changing completely, so the best thing one can do is focus on what is good now. Enjoy the blessings you do have. There is always plenty of negative things we can dwell on but it serves no real purpose long term, it certainly doesn’t change the circumstance. While I certainly enjoy beautiful things, I learned a long time ago that my true happiness comes from my faith in God and my family. All the rest is just a bow on the package. Wherever you are in your life journey today, my prayer is that you breathe in the good and exhale the negative. Life is a roller coaster, lots of ups and downs, we just have to hang on and enjoy the ride.

Have the most amazing day!
