My favorite dress & a style challenge for you

Merry Christmas & Happy Birthday Jesus! I hope today you are surrounded by those you love and are filled with lots of joy!

I pulled my very favorite holiday dress out of the vault and hope to inspire you to do a Christmas fashion challenge with me before you take your tree down.

Do you remember seeing photos of your mom or grandma dressed in their best, standing in front of their Christmas tree? It was just a cool thing you did back then, the OG selfie lol. Being a vintage junkie, I fancy the great styles from years gone by. Pearls, gloves and tulle? Style queens. Man, how times have changed, all my tree pix have me in a messy bun, wearing wild matching family pajamas, and probably stuffing my face, keeping it classy lol.

Granted, there is no shame in the holiday sweatpants game, comfort can not be overlooked, but if I am honest, some of my favorite pix of my mom and grandma are those glam tree snaps. Seeing the matriarchs of our families all dolled up and so proud of their decorated tree/home inspired me to do the same. I spend days decorating our home for Christmas so from this year on I decided I am going to capture looking my very glam best as I proudly display the results of all my hard work. I know someday this segment of my outfit diary will be my favorite ( and probably my girls too) to look through.

This would be my first pix in what I am calling “fancy me by the tree” style challenge, so it had to be a special dress. It was a no-brainer which one I would choose, this is hands down my most favorite of all my holiday dresses.

Gorgeous velvet and iridescent green loveliness that is truly timeless. This dress is so special to me because it comes with a backstory from my youth. In the 80’s I worked at a bridal shop. When I unpacked these bridesmaid’s dresses from Alfred Angelo, I thought they were the most beautiful dresses I had ever seen, but sadly it was waaay out of my price range. Decades later, I found it while thrifting and was so happy to finally own it. It’s as gorgeous today as I remember it back then and it makes me feel beautiful every time I put it on.

This prompted me to create the style challenge. How many truly glammed up pictures of yourself do you have? I know until I started this blog, I didn’t have many. I think all women should have beautiful & intentionally created photos to look back on, to capture and celebrate you.

I hope you will do the same and create these one-of-a-kind photo memories. If you don’t have anything glam in the closet, there are beautiful gowns all the time at your local thrift store, most are under $15, or you could also borrow a prom like dress, or put on gloves and pearls with a little black dress, or throw on a bow tie and vest with a suit. Anything that isn’t a standard outfit in your rotation, it should be something unique and special just like you are. If you do this challenge with me, I would LOVE to see your pix! You can participate with us on Instagram #fancymeby the tree December 24-26th. Please tag me on Instagram @crowsfeetinheels or thru Facebook.
Have a lovely and blessed day!
