Styling a buttondown dress

When shopping for dresses, I like to look for longer ones that button down the front since they can be worn in several different ways. If you have limited closet space it’s good to have pieces that are versatile. This thrifted $10 dress by Chicos is a fun piece since it’s a navy animal print which you don’t see often. It’s a great example of how you can maximize your outfits.

Wearing it as a long jacket is one of my go-to styles. It adds dimension to a basic outfit and can create flattering lines. Boston Proper wide leg pants with a halter top and obi belt makes for a fun outfit.

A fun and kind of unique way to wear it is to button the top, leaving the rest open and pining the sides of the waist over just enough to show the outfit underneath, then placing a belt over the pins. I am wearing a navy dress with this so I could wear it as a long jacket also as in the first set, but wearing it with a skirt would also work to create this look.

Last but not least is wearing it as it was intended as a dress. I switched up the shoes to BeBe gladiator heels and a crisp white summery belt. This dress checks a lot of boxes for me, navy and white, animal print and so very versatile!

Blessings,

Eden
