Can I wear that?
Can I wear that?????
When my daughters were home, it was a common question. Sometimes we hung out in the vault and talked about how stupid boys are as they came to borrow something.
As women, it’s a question we ask ourselves. Can/should I wear that? Am I too old, too short, too fat etc. You can find a ton of fashion don'ts. I'll admit some are valid. Like Crocs. NO HONEY!! Put that shoe abomination down! I kid. Kinda. Not really. I digress. For me personally, it all comes down to how I feel in it. When I walk out the door, I want to feel great since it's probably the only thing that day I will have complete control over lol.
Starting the day feeling so-so in a outfit you've worn 100 times is no way to hit the world running. Feeling good about yourself starts on the inside, and you can't always change that overnight but you can always change your outfit for a quick pick me up, and sometimes, what you put on your outside can change how your inside feels that day. Fun style has an attitude. Attitude is altitude. Invest in a few outfits that make YOU feel great, it doesn't have to be expensive. As for what that outfit is, that's the fun part, figuring out your own Menique.
Can/should you wear it? If in serious doubt ask a trusted, well-styled friend (or a middle schooler, no one is more brutally honest lol) The question you have to ask yourself is what are the REAL reasons you are hesitant to wear it? An outfit can be styled in so many different ways to make it more agreeable to you. An outfit can look completely different just by changing one thing, in this case, a pair of pants, or shoes, office to funky in a flash!
If it's fashion "rules" or because you are worried some negative Nancy might have something to say about it? Just know she's going to talk about you and everyone else anyway, so you might as well look FABULOUS while she's doing it.
Remember this about people who talk behind your back, they are BEHIND you for a reason. Not worth your focus.
