Happy Thanksgiving eve! I am posting thrifted Thursday a day early since we have family in town. I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with a thankful heart for God’s provsions, feeling loved by the family beside you, great food, a restful nap after and of course comfy stretch waist pants lol.

Speaking of strechy pants…depending on what I have going on, one of 2 women will emerge from my closet, either glamzilla, decked to the nines, OR the reigning queen of schlumpy town. Hair in a bun, wearing my basic mom uniform of joggers and some faded graphic tee. It’s quite the contrast, 2 completely different women and attitudes. My amazing hubs is loving this blog because he’s seeing his “other wife” a whole more often lol.

Nothing makes my inner glamazon show up faster than the whisper of menswear, or the current trend, tailored layering.

Even though it’s a popular trend right now, I have been doing this for years. The look has that dapper feel and has its own attitude that really puts you in a power mood.

A suit is a great way to do this look, but if you don’t have one you can also use items in the same color family like I did here. The idea is to layer as many pieces as you can while keeping a very tailored look.

I started with the plaid Forever 21 trench coat ($14 from Poshmark) and pulled similar color pieces from that. The thifted parts of this outfit are the shirt, vest and pants. I wanted the shirt to pop so I chose a $7 Valerie Stevens burnt orange button-down and plaid tie I borrowed from hubs closet. The $4 mens vintage vest and the $8 Banana Republic pants are both a brown herringbone print but are slightly different in color.

It’s the finishing touches and pop of colors that really make the outfit. Brown gloves, Jessica Simpson burnt orange reptile heels and matching color fedora ($17 Amazon) If you don’t have a tie a scarf will do as well. Ties are about $3 or less at our GW, it’s a great accessory to have.

You could also do this look with a skirt or jeans, a button-down shirt, with a vest or sweater over it, add a blazer and then an overcoat draped over it all. Hopefully, you live in a colder state to not roast like a turkey in this very warm ensemble lol. I skipped the blazer and sweater since I didn’t want to have Texas heat stroke, but it does look very nice when all the pieces are used.
