Styling a $4 leather trench coat

Regular readers of this blog know that I am a trench coat addict, It’s ridiculous since I live in a hot state, but after living in Colorado for so many years, I just can’t shake the love I have for them. As I have said many times, a trench coat is one piece you should have for winter wear since it will instantly upstyle any outfit. I am going to share one of my favorite shopping secrets with you to get the best deal on a beautiful preloved coat…

Wait until summer to buy them. Not a lot of people are searching for trench coats in July, but I did and bought 2 vintage coats on eBay for just $4 and $5! Shipping was close to $20 each due to the weight, but getting them for under $25 each is still a fabulous deal since they regularly go for $100+. I will write a post about the other one soon, here is a peek…

My favorite of the two, is a Terry Lewis double-breasted vintage trench in the most perfect camel color. $4?? I thought for sure something would be wrong with it, but it is just amazing. It goes with soo many things, and I couldn’t wait to wear it, it has sat patiently waiting for me to dress it up.

There are so many things it will go with but for it’s debut I went with tried and true.. camel and black, it’s one of my favorite color combos, especially with leathers. If you don’t have a basic black turtleneck sweater, I highly recommend one, not only are the chic, classic, and so stylish, they go with just about everything.

An Ann Taylor leather skirt, a $6 cute cabbie hat, and a wide belt are all that is needed for this easy outfit. Vince Camuto Fendel boots bring the colors together. I did not add a necklace, since I like to be as elongated as possible lol.

Switching up the skirt for Ralph Lauren faux leather leggings, makes a great date night outfit. Changing the hat to a black fedora and adding Aldo leopard heels gives it a different look. It’s so easy to change the look of an outfit with a hat and shoes.

** When buying vintage pieces, ALWAYS make sure to ask the seller if they are smoke and odor free, some vintage pieces reek if they are not taken care of properly, some sellers will not disclose that unless you ask. Getting the stank out of some pieces is more costly than it’s worth.

This is one of my best eBay deals, it is certainly a classic piece that I will be styling for many winters to come!

Blessings,

Eden
