Costumes into outfits for Halloween
One of the things I LOVE about Halloween has zero to do with decor or candy, for me it’s all about the unusual and vintage finds that line the thrift store racks. I am like a kid in a candy store going through all the interesting pieces. You all know by now that if it’s weird I am going to look at it twice. Some of my best vintage pieces were found on Halloween racks. It’s a tradition for me to always try to find at least one thing to turn into an outfit, this year I found 2!
First up is what I believe to be part of an Arya Stark costume from Game of Thrones. We just finished watching the series for the first time, I know we are seriously late to that party but we really enjoyed it. I thought it would be a kick to recreate it into a date night outfit with my hubs.
Pairing it with jeans, a brown cami, a vintage newsboy hat, and boots made it fun and wearable. I will keep this jacket in case we decide to be GOT characters for some future Halloween party.
I LOVE this next find! This top was brand new with it’s tags still on, I love it’s over-the-top style. The staff thought it belonged in costumes, I thought it belonged in my closet lol. Style is certainly subjective.
Since the top is ultra feminine, I decided to pair it with black leather in a long swing skirt and styled it with and without the double-breasted leather vest. The wild hat was on clearance at Walmart for just $11. The BeBe oxford heels add to the whimsy.
Crazy garb has my name all over it. Looking with a fashion eye at unlikely things also can create a fun tradition to do with your teens. Thrift store costumes are very inexpensive especially the closer to Halloween it gets. I am always amazed by some of the very detailed homemade costumes I see, if only I could sew that well!
This dress was not a costume but from Amazon, it was disappointing, it was so flimsy and bland but adding a cape-blazer, a ribbon belt and some fun shoes helped to make it more my style.
Thinking out of the fashion box can create one-of-a-kind and not to mention memorable outfits. I hope you have a fun and safe Halloween!!
Blessings,
Eden
