“Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?” What movie is that line from? Bonus point if you even know who Barry Manilow is lol. If you said The Breakfast Club, you are correct. A classic teen movie from the 80’s. I can’t count how many times I have seen it. My kids love it and it’s still as relevant today as it was when I watched it for the first time in my senior year of high school. When I put this outfit on, I thought it resembled John Bender from the movie, gray overcoat, buffalo plaid layerd shirt and a red scarf lol, yep this outfit is all Bender.

Buffalo plaid aka buffalo check, where did that even come from? Legend has it that it got it’s name from the owner of the mill company having a herd of buffalo. The difference between it and regular plaid is the size of the checks. That is probably way more info than you wanted to know, but should you ever play plaid trivia you will be ahead of the game.

I am a BIG fan of this print, I decorate with it for Christmas, we did family pix in it and I have several pieces I wear for western Wednesdays.

When I saw an outfit similar to this one on Pinterest, I knew I wanted to recreate it, but adding my kind of Bender splash to it.

I used the vintage overcoat I had posted recently, a charcoal gray H&M blazer, a black and white stripe long sleeve under the buffalo plaid, distressed black jeans that have a gray fade, a bright red scarf and a cute black fedora. My favorite buffalo plaid item is the cutie pie GX booties by Gwen Stefani. I LOVE them! I have that movie on the brain no so I think I will have a movie day and watch an old favorite.
