57 Back in black
Hello, friends! Long time no see! When I looked back to my last post I was shocked how long it’s been. So much has changed in my life that time has just flown by. As a result my blog has sat on a to do shelf, it’s time to blow the dust and cobwebs off and get to glammin’ again! As most of you know, I have a birthday tradition of finding/thrifting a formal dress (under $20) and taking keepsake photos to capture the first day of my new age. If you are new here, these were the dresses from the last 3 years.
To ring in 57, I wanted something dramatic and unusual. I’ve been a little frump-a-lina lately so this $10 sequin dress by Monaco had the va-va-voom I was looking for. The skirt only has one full side which gives it the unusual flair I wanted.
I had to tame it down just a bit since it was sheer with a deep plunge neckline, I added a sequin top underneath and paired it with Lauren Lorraine black lace heels, they match perfectly with a $9 black bow jeweled belt I bought at Ross a couple of years ago.
I wanted to do the majority of the photos in black and white, there is just something so timeless and glamorous about them, especially when wearing black.
My husband takes my birthday photos every year, it’s part of the tradition. I always love his reaction when I walk out of the room, I think this may be his favorite dress of them all, but then again I think that every year lol. He’s the love of my life and my very best friend. He is always able to capture my personality.
What a great way to walk into 57, feeling sexy and confident!
Since sharing this tradition with you 3 years ago, many of you have messaged me that you are now doing it too! I LOVE that. I think it’s so special to create deliberately beautiful photos to usher in the next chapter of YOU! If you haven’t already, I encourage you to start your own glam birthday photo tradition, you will be glad you did. You don’t have to spend a lot, or even go anywhere in it, a $10 dress and the camera on my phone, was all it took to create keepsake photos.
I would LOVE to say I’ll be back to posting regularly, but we have so much going on this summer with events and lots of out of town guests. Today was a great reminder of how much I miss sharing my love of all things fashion with you. Thank you though for all the “miss you” messages sent. It truly means so much! Heres to another year!
Wishing you all blessings upon blessings!
