3 women in 1 dress
In this post, I will show you 3 ways to style a button-down maxi dress, with the extra challenge of doing it with 3 different ages and body types. I enlisted the help of our beautiful daughters to demonstrate.
On a recent trip to GW, I saw this wild fabric peeking out of the rack and decided to have some fun with a style challenge. I wanted to use a dress that had multiple colors so we could style it with more things. This certainly fits the bill and then some. My daughter looked on in horror as I proudly put it into the cart.
They all know by now that I am drawn to the U word… UNIQUE, however, they would probably choose the word UGLY instead lol. I am a risk-taker as clothing goes so what the hey, for $13 let’s roll the fashion dice. Surprisingly, after a little research on this brand Farm Rio, their dresses run between $250-500. Guess I have an eye for fabrics lol. Now we have our dress so let’s roll.
Outfit #1- The normal way most would wear a button-down dress. The pattern is LOUD so it’s a focal point all by itself. I only added navy heels and a coral belt.
BUT… I don’t do normal all that often lol. I folded in the collar, added a statement necklace, left the bottom unbuttoned enough to showcase the gladiator boots and let’s throw on a floppy hat just for kicks. Eye circus? Yeppers. Love it.
Outfit #2- A 2 dresses in one look. One button only at the waist, or under the breast, over a plain dress and add a belt. She chose to add a vibrant blue tank dress. For a hippie vibe she chose a medium brim tan hat, braided belt and chunky, lace-up ankle boots.
This beautiful daughter of ours is always smiling, she just lights up a room, it’s so it’s easy to get great photos of her, she’s beautiful inside and out! (Love you bunches and bunches pretty girl)
This photo really shows the patchwork detail of the dress.
Outfit #3 I like wearing a button-down dress as a duster (like a kimono, only longer) No button at the waist or belt. The belt will go on whatever bottoms you choose. Wearing it like a jacket, you can put anything underneath it. She also chose blue but in a darker shade. She styled it with high-waisted bell-bottom jeans, a navy tank, a coral necklace and bold lipstick.
This beautiful daughter of ours is funny and very expressive, you always know what she’s thinking even if she says nothing, her outtake pictures sum up her personality perfectly! Do you ever wonder what it’s like to take photos outside in Texas?? Did I mention we had wine?? It’s always wine-o’clock somewhere lol.
She’s also gracious since she said I could post these lol. She’s always a beauty (love you to the moon and back princess)
Challenge accomplished! 3 ages, 3 sizes, 1 dress worn 3 ways. This dress is actually really cute when it’s styled the right way. It will be hitting the sale rack if you are interested in purchasing it.
Have a wonderful and blessed day,
Eden
