16 Fall & winter trends

What’s “IN” for current fall/winter fashions? I shopped the vault to put together my version of 16 popular trends.

These are just a few of the things the fashion powers that be say we have to have this season. I joke that those who decide what will be “IN” do so with a large dartboard of past trends and a big spinner wheel of color lol. We see their visions boldly come to life during fashion weeks. Granted some things are amazing, have astronomical prices, and some are a straight assault on the eyes…

I like to think I am an out-of-the-box type of fashionista, but a Pepto/ alien/vajayjay gown, a puffer jacket/granny panties thing, and don’t get me started on Valentino recreating what a 3-year-old would put together playing dress up lol. I wouldn’t put these folks in charge of picking out my clothes. I’ll take it from here thanks.

#1 Tailored multiple layers

The trend is lots of layers but keeping it tailored. Menswear is a great choice for it.

#2 Capes

Capes add an instant dramatic effect which I love! Adding one to trend#1 will create a dapper look!

#3 Statement outerwear

The trend is bright colors, I made this one and opted for a bold seasonal plaid instead.

#4 Apres wear

Pronounced Ah-pray, think ski chalet, hitting the slopes! Chunky printed sweaters, turtlenecks, faux fur! Cozy!

#5 Quilted outerwear

Tagging on Apres, quilted or puffer, the bigger the better.

#6-7 Vibrant colors and

midi skirts

2 trends 1 outfit. This season is all about bold color. Midi’s are below the knee and above the ankle.

#8 knitwear sets

Who doesn’t love cozy knitwear? Pant or skirt sets are all the rage. I like to add a luxe fur or hat.

#9 Feminine tops

Sheer in the winter?? mmmkay lol. Ruffles, lace or sheer. This top had all three. I love girly trends.

#10-11 Dark denim and Jewel tones

This outfit covers 2, Dark denim and wearing rich gemstone colors.

#12 Geometric prints

Geometric print on anything will do!

#13-15 Shiny material, metal colors, and cut-outs

This sequin, gold cut-out top covers 3 trends in one!

#16 Uniform

The actual trend is plaid/school uniform mini sets, like from the 90’s. I’m not into minis so a cardigan and tie will do.

Whew! Lots of pix for future posts where I will go into the detail of each. Just remember the most important trend to follow is confidence that no matter what's “IN” style you feel great in what you are wearing. Everything comes back in style at some point.
